Back in 2013,Watch Baddies Vol. 4 Online Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane made a Harvey Weinstein joke while announcing the supporting actress nominations for the Oscars.

Then, it felt weird and uncomfortable. Now, with the recent sexual abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein, it all seems a bit darker.

He explained why he made the joke Wednesday on Twitter.

"Make no mistake, this came from a place of loathing and anger," he wrote, explaining that Jessica Barth, featured in both of his Tedmovies and Family Guy, confided in him about her encounters with Weinstein. "There is nothing more abhorrent and indefensible than abuse of power such as this."

Earlier this week, The New Yorkerreported an account from Barth about a meeting she had with Weinstein in 2011.

Barth said that, in the conversation that followed, he alternated between offering to cast her in a film and demanding a naked massage in bed. “So, what would happen if, say, we’re having some champagne and I take my clothes off and you give me a massage?” she recalled him asking. “And I’m, like, ‘That’s not going to happen.’ ”

When she moved toward the door to leave, Weinstein lashed out, saying that she needed to lose weight “to compete with Mila Kunis,” and then, apparently in an effort to mollify her, promising a meeting with one of his female executives. “He gave me her number, and I walked out and I started bawling,” Barth told me.

Weinstein's abhorrent behavior seemed to be an open secret in Hollywood, with 30 Rockjoking about it back in 2012.
