In the caption, she gave some insight into why she chose to pose nude.
"🌹🌹#Freeingthenipple for our French Vogue cover," Hadid wrote. "Thank you for the opportunity and experience @emmanuellealt @vogueparis and everyone for your support #LoveYourBody 🌹🌹."
The #freethenipple hashtag attacks Instagram's censorship policies that often target women. The hashtag is part of the Free The Nipple campaign which fights for gender equality by opposing sexually objectifying women.
The issue will hit French stands on August 24.
